About the role
We're seeking a Contracts Advisor to join our Australian Operations Procurement team, based at our Head Office in Brisbane. In this role, you'll manage the full contract lifecycle for subcontractors, suppliers and consultants, helping to protect the business from commercial risk while delivering value across our project portfolio.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing and issuing procurement tender packages through Felix.
- Evaluating and reconciling tender submissions across technical, commercial, safety and compliance requirements.
- Drafting, negotiating and administering subcontract, supply and consultancy agreements.
- Partnering with Legal, Commercial, Finance and Operations stakeholders on contractual matters.
- Managing contract variations, claims, extensions, amendments and disputes.
- Supporting risk mitigation and ensuring compliance with Thiess contractual frameworks.
- Maintaining contract records, approvals and governance processes.
- Managing contract close-out activities, including completion certificates, securities and retention releases
What you’ll need to succeed
You're a commercially minded contracts professional who enjoys working across a diverse stakeholder group and navigating complex contractual matters. With a strong eye for detail and a proactive approach to risk management, you're confident managing competing priorities while building trusted relationships across the business.
- Experience in Contracts Administration and/or Procurement within mining, construction or a similar project-based environment.
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation and contract management capability.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to identify and mitigate contractual risk.
- Experience managing supplier and stakeholder relationships.
- Well-developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of JDE and experience using Felix is highly desirable.
