The Opportunity
Are you a qualified Machinist with strong diagnostic skills and experience working on heavy mobile equipment with a passion for ensures all machining activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards while supporting production schedules, equipment reliability and customer expectations? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Machinist to join our high-performing team at Batam Rebuild Centre.
As a key member of the Batam Rebuild Centre team, you'll be responsible for performing machining operations to repair, remanufacture and restore heavy equipment components and structures to OEM specifications, engineering drawings and approved work instructions.

As the [Position Title], you will:
- Select suitable machining methods and tooling for assigned tasks.
- Conduct machine setup and alignment within approved procedures.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances before progressing work.
- Identify defects, non-conformances and machining limitations.
- Stop work where safety, quality or equipment integrity risks are identified.
About you
- Senior High School Certificate or Vocational Technical Qualification.
- Trade qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Competency certification in machining operations desirable
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Machinist in heavy equipment, mining, manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Experience machining large components and heavy equipment parts preferred.
- Experience using manual machining equipment is essential.
- Experience using CNC machining equipment is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Sound understanding of machining principles and precision measurement.
- Ability to achieve tight tolerances on heavy equipment components.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary workshop environment.
