About the project

Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.

The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of defining, building, and operating a major mining operation.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

The Opportunity

Are you a relationship-focused HR professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and enjoys partnering closely with leaders to deliver practical people solutions? Thiess is seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Advisor to join our high-performing team at the Eva Copper Mine Project in the Cloncurry region of Queensland.

As a key member of the Eva Copper Alliance team, you will provide end-to-end operational HR support, advice and coordination across workforce mobilisation, employee relations, workforce planning, performance management and day-to-day people activities that support the successful delivery of the project.

Location & Roster
This is a predominantly site-based role supporting the Eva Copper Mine Project. The preferred arrangement is for the successful candidate to be based locally and work a 5/2/4/3 roster.

Applications from Brisbane-based candidates are also welcomed. For exceptional candidates, an alternative roster involving one week on site and one week working from Brisbane may be considered.

As the Human Resources Advisor, you will:

  • Partner with leaders and employees across site to provide practical HR advice, coaching and support on workforce matters.
  • Support workforce mobilisation, onboarding, employee lifecycle activities and workforce administration processes.
  • Assist leaders with performance management, conduct matters, attendance management, consultation processes and employee relations matters.
  • Conduct and support workplace investigations, procedural matters and documentation, escalating complex issues where required.
  • Maintain accurate workforce data, reporting and compliance activities across HR systems and project requirements.
  • Coordinate workforce planning activities and provide workforce insights to site leadership and the Regional HR Manager.
  • Build strong relationships with operational leaders, support functions and external stakeholders to support a positive employee experience.
  • Champion Thiess values, safety standards and a high-performance culture across the workforce.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a practical, people-focused approach and the ability to build credibility with frontline leaders and operational teams.

You will bring:

  • Previous HR generalist experience within mining, construction, resources or another operational environment.
  • Experience supporting employee relations and industrial relations matters, investigations and workforce management activities.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation, enterprise agreements, HR policies and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Experience partnering with frontline leaders and supporting large operational workforces.
  • Exposure to workforce reporting, HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
