The Opportunity
Are you a skilled Welder with strong heavy equipment experience and a commitment to safety with a passion for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance? Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Welder to join our high-performing team at Batam Rebuild Centre.
As a key member of the Batam Rebuild Centre team, you'll be responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication, repair and maintenance activities on heavy mining equipment to support safe, reliable and efficient operations.

As the Welder, you will:
- Perform welding, fabrication and structural repairs on heavy mining equipment, components and attachments.
- Perform grinding, fit-up and alignment activities
- Carry out inspections, repairs and maintenance in accordance with safety, quality and operational standards.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment availability, reliability and safe production.
- Ensure all welds meet applicable quality standards
- Maintain welding machines and fabrication equipment in serviceable condition
- Implement work safety, health and environmental policies in accordance with company regulations
About you
- Minimum High School (Welding, Mechanical, Metal, Manufacturing Engineering, or Equivalent Qualification)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in welding fabrication
- Experience in heavy equipment repair or manufacturing environment preferred
- Relevant welding qualification/certification with proven experience in heavy equipment or mining environments.
- Strong skills in MIG/MAG, SMAW and/or FCAW welding, with the ability to read technical drawings and welding specifications.
- Experience repairing and fabricating components for heavy mobile mining equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders and dozers.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and housekeeping, with the ability to work effectively in a team and under demanding site conditions.
- Basic conversation and written English
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications
