About the role
- Develop and maintain short and medium-term mine schedules to meet production targets and client requirements.
- Monitor mining performance against budget and forecast, identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and monthly cost reporting processes.
- Track and analyse key mining metrics, including productivity, equipment utilisation, dilution, recovery, and mining costs.
- Prepare and review mine designs, haul road layouts, and production plans using mining software packages.
- Conduct field inspections and audits to ensure compliance with mine designs, operating standards, and safety requirements.
- Complete production reconciliations and provide accurate reporting on mining performance.
- Investigate operational variances and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Liaise closely with Operations, Survey, Geology, and Maintenance departments to coordinate mining activities and optimise outcomes.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to support operational decision-making.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an open pit hard rock mining environment.
- Experience in mine planning, scheduling, and production reporting
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Sound understanding of open pit mining methods, drill and blast, and production processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced mining environment and build strong working relationships across multiple departments.
