The Opportunity

Thiess invites expressions of interest from experienced and emerging Mining Coordinators interested in future opportunities at Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex.

Located 40 kilometres southwest of Moranbah, Olive Downs is a dynamic and autonomous mining operation. Since commencing in early 2023, Thiess has delivered comprehensive mining services across mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (autonomous and manned), water management, rehabilitation, and infrastructure.

As a Mining Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating daily mining activities, supporting operational performance, and ensuring plans are executed safely and efficiently. Working closely with Mining Supervisors, Engineers, Dispatch, and site stakeholders, you will help optimise production outcomes, manage competing priorities, and contribute to the successful delivery of mine plans in a fast-paced operational environment. You will thrive in a role that offers responsibility, variety, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on site performance.

Typical responsibilities may include:

• Assist the Mining Supervisor with leading a mining crew to deliver production results in a safe and efficient manner.
• Carry out effective inspection and reporting processes in accordance with relevant site policies and procedures
• Co-ordination of production operators and equipment to deliver the production schedule in line with weekly plan.
• Conduct mining practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Actively seek continuous improvement.
• Assist with incident investigations within area of responsibility.

About you

We’re interested in hearing from candidates who bring:

• Previous experience as a leading hand in an open-cut coal mining environment is highly regarded.
• A solid understanding of the processes involved with open cut coal mining.
• Good organisational, communication and presentation skills coupled with approachable and motivational qualities.
• Proven leadership experience and people management skills is essential
• Qualifications that support your experience and success within the coal mining industry.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Current Coal Board Medical, Standard 11, S123 and G2
